Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree.
  • Admission to the Arizona State Bar or eligibility for in-house counsel registration in Arizona required
  • 5+ years of legal experience (law firm or corporate environment preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial, and regulatory law.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment with a business-oriented mindset and programmatic risk assessment approach.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in (DOT, OSHA and environmental) a plus.
  • Experience with managing outside council and legal budgets a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Legal Advisory & Business Support: Provide day-to-day legal advice to executive leadership and business and service center leadership. Interpret laws, rulings and regulations impacting the organization. Advise on risk management strategies and participate in executive strategy discussions. Develop internal legal policies and training.
  • Contract Management: Draft and standardize contract templates. Oversee contract approval workflows. Oversee contract lifecycle management. Review and provide feedback on a wide range of commercial agreements (e.g., vendor contracts, customer agreements, NDAs, employment agreements). Ensure contracts align with company policies and minimize risk exposure. Support negotiations with key customers and vendors.
  • Employment & Labor Law: Support HR with investigations, legal matters outsourced to outside council and dispute resolution.
  • Intellectual Property: Oversee trademark, copyright, and other intellectual property matters, including registration, maintenance, enforcement, and protection of company assets.
  • M&A: Assist in legal due diligence, purchase agreement review, and other legal matters pertaining to M&A.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Affairs: Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable local, multi-state and national laws. Provide guidance related to legal matters in areas such as marketing compliance and website disclosures, customer contracts, lien rights, customer legal disputes and other matters.
