Reporting to, and in partnership with the Chief Operations & Strategy Officer (COSO), the General Counsel and Vice President for Contracts & Agreements will serve as the executive management leader responsible for strategic legal counsel and oversight for all contracts, agreements, and risk management matters. The ideal candidate is a strategic, forward-thinking executive leader with strong legal experience capable of leading complex capital project contract negotiations and agreements for a capital campaign. The candidate brings a predilection toward action and a proven ability to execute detailed legal agreements. The candidate starts with a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school, followed by significant experience providing legal counsel and negotiating contracts and agreements. This individual demonstrates high integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to ethical leadership. They approach challenges with a growth mindset and a deep sense of curiosity. They strategically anticipate risks and long-term consequences then translate legal concepts into clear and actionable guidance. Space Center Houston seeks an executive with proven senior management and leadership experience. The candidate has a track record of success in effectively collaborating with teams from multiple functions across the organization for the purpose of achieving common goals and objectives. The candidate should possess strong negotiation, agreement drafting, and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, balance competing priorities, and provide practical legal advice to non-legal stakeholders. The candidate is dedicated to advancing the mission of science education, learning, and community engagement.
