MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a General Clerk I, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs. You will play a crucial role in reviewing, preparing, and processing documents in accordance with established procedures. This position focuses on accuracy, consistency, and adherence to documented instructions, including the use of software tools to review and redact documents. The role requires independence, attention to detail, and openness to quality feedback. A day in the life of the General Clerk I includes: Processing business documents in accordance with defined procedures and quality standards. Reviewing documents to identify required actions, including redaction, classification, or data preparation activities. Utilizing Microsoft Excel to review, update, track, or validate document-related data. Applying redactions using a designated software application after completing required training. Following detailed, repeatable procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across all documents. Performing quality checks on completed work to ensure accuracy and completeness. Receiving and applying feedback related to quality, productivity, and procedural adherence. Working independently to complete assigned tasks while meeting productivity and quality expectations. Adhering to all confidentiality, data protection, and security requirements. Maintaining organized electronic and physical work materials to support efficient processing. WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED As a General Clerk I, you MUST HAVE: A High school diploma or equivalent An ability to obtain and maintain a position of public trust Demonstrated reliability and ability to meet deadline Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including basic data entry and navigation An ability to learn and use a software application for document redaction and processing Experience with business document processing, administrative work, or data-related tasks preferred but not required Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures precisely An ability to work independently with minimal supervision Willingness to receive feedback and make adjustments to improve quality of work Effective communication skills, both written and verbal A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and following security protocols. The likely hourly rate for this position is between $19.93 - $26.97. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
