About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping in clean, sanitary and orderly condition and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work.
  • Knowledge of basic methods, materials and equipment used in janitorial work.
  • Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to sufficiently communicate with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
  • Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • High Dusting surfaces above shoulder height, i.e., lights above doors, curtain tips, vents and ledges, using a treated high duster.
  • Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning surfaces below shoulder height, i.e., ledges, chairs, telephone, countertops and trashcans, using a germicidal solution.
  • Removing fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls using proper solution.
  • Spot cleaning windows using proper solution.
  • Cleaning bathrooms, including above and below sink, toilet seat and the outside of toilet bowl, and the inside of the toilet with a Johnnie Mop and germicidal solution.
  • Cleaning and checking soap dispensers and paper dispensers daily, refilling as needed.
  • Emptying Trash Cans, removing the liner and wiping the trash can if liquid is inside, and placing a clean liner.
  • Floor Dusting or Vacuuming, starting at the back of the room using the “S” stroke, dusting under all furniture and in restrooms.
  • Cleaning the mophead with a counter brush and sweeping up dust onto a dustpan.
  • Vacuuming under chairs and other furniture.
  • Cleaning and checking outside areas several times during the day.
  • Emptying and cleaning ash urns and trash cans outside.
  • Policing sidewalks, flower beds and curb line for trash and cigarette butts.
  • Spot cleaning spills on sidewalk and removing gum with scraper.
  • Wiping benches and vending machines.
  • Wiping lower window ledges and high dusting for dust and cobwebs.
  • Cleaning public area glass as necessary.
  • Policing parking lot for trash.
  • Dust mopping and spot mopping the main hallways.
  • Cleaning glass in public common areas several times during the day.
  • Cleaning planters and ensuring they are free from bird waste inside and out.
  • Checking for cob webs and high dusting window areas at least two times per week, checking all corners and edges for dirt, cob webs and other foreign debris.
  • Cleaning, removing trash and sanitizing tables in the Food Court.
  • Placing chairs back under tables in the Food Court.
  • Spot cleaning for spills in the Food Court.
  • Emptying and cleaning trash cans in the Food Court.
  • Removing accumulated dirty trays to wash room and cleaning using tray power washer.
  • Stacking clean trays on shelf for recycled use.
  • Policing outside eating areas.
  • Sanitizing floors using the proper germicidal solution, mopping under furniture and behind doors.
  • Mentally reviewing cleaning steps and visually checking furniture placement after completing a room, making corrections as needed.
  • Knocking lightly on door before entering, if occupied.
  • Being friendly and cheerful to customers, answering questions in a helpful, courteous manner or referring them to someone who can.
  • Reporting anything broken or out of order in the room to your supervisor.
  • Working quietly and speaking quietly, trying to reduce or eliminate noise.
  • Staying in your assigned work area unless requested to go elsewhere by your supervisor.
  • Maintaining a clean and neat personal appearance while on the job.
  • Reporting to your supervisor if you have not completed your work assignment by the end of your shift.
  • Being courteous.
  • Performing other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager (this could include, but is not limited to, floor care – stripping and waxing floors, extraction and bonneting of carpets, auto scrub and buffing of floors).
