Position Overview: The NP or PA will plan, direct, and evaluate resident and employee healthcare in a growing cardiology program; examine and treat chronic and acute episodic illnesses, minor injuries, accidents, and other injuries/illnesses; perform selected laboratory testing; offer referrals to physicians, write prescriptions, and perform office procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will also collaborate with the medical director in the care and treatment of patients. Requirements

  • Strong clinical, diagnostic, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • The ability to educate patients in an empathetic and clear manner.

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Able to lift 10 pounds for routine performance of essential functions.
  • May be exposed to adverse indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, bloodborne pathogens, physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks, etc.) and chemical hazards.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position.
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Advance Practice Nursing (MSN or DNP).

  • Cardiology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical exams and medical history reviews.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work, X-rays, and other imaging studies.
  • Diagnose medical conditions and develop treatment plans.
  • Management of hypertension, heart failure, ischemic heart disease, arrhythmias, dyslipidemia, and valvular disease.
  • Evidence-based medication management and provide patient education.
  • Participation in inpatient and therapies (depending on state laws and scope of practice)
  • Educate patients and their families on disease prevention, health maintenance, and management of chronic conditions.
  • Offer counseling on lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise, and stress management.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Provide consultation and referrals to specialists, as necessary.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Provide ongoing care for patients with chronic illnesses or conditions.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with healthcare laws, regulations, and insurance requirements.
  • Document patient interactions and treatment plans clearly and thoroughly.
  • Serves as a member of committees dealing with health care.
  • Other duties as assigned.
