About The Position

The General Cardiologist is responsible for the daily duties associated with both Clinic and hospital-based assignments. The Cardiologists functions within the clinic an average of 3 days per week on an appointment basis to assess, examine and provide medical cardiology diagnostics and treatment where appropriate. The Cardiologists works within a team framework and directly with professional peers to maintain a high degree of patient satisfaction and insure the delivery of quality care. Utilizing the EPIC and other software systems, appropriately and accurately manages the documentation of all patient visits, consultations and interventions in accordance with hospital and clinical policy, and appropriate, applicable standards of care as recommended by the American college of Cardiology (ACC) and other clinical guidance as deemed appropriate, safe and efficacious.

Requirements

  • Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy degree
  • Specialty board certification in Cardiology

Nice To Haves

  • Board Certification in Echocardiography
  • Board Certification in Nuclear Echocardiography
  • Training and experience in Transesophageal Echocardiography

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patient through questions, examinations, symptom review, and medical testing
  • Perform exercise tests, diagnostic image tests, cardiac catheterizations; may perform or recommend procedures like echocardiograms
  • Analysis of patient test results
  • Set patient goals and discuss a treatment plan
  • Establish timelines, tasks, and medical needs of the patient
  • Develop treatment plans for medications or therapy to help patients reach their goal
  • Prescribe medications and monitoring patient intake
  • Recommend surgeons or other further treatments and Consult with surgeons on patient procedures and care plan
  • Monitor patient progress post-surgery
  • Document patient records and progress including symptoms, medications, and treatments
  • Provide patient with tools, care plan and rehabilitation program where clinically appropriate, including methods for recovery and improved quality of life
  • Educate the patient, patient's family, significant others, and relevant parties of patient progress, treatment, and future goals
  • Responsible for the day-to-day and long-term operation and success of the Southeastern Regional Medical Center Cardiovascular Service Line
  • Establish, maintain and enforce acceptable professional and ethical standards of the staff according to its policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives
  • Assist the Director in conducting, coordinating and directing patient care according to policies/procedure, state and federal regulations and accepted accreditation standards
  • Assist the Administrative Director in planning and establishing new markets, programs and services development
  • Coordinate and supervise the day to day business and activities of the organization's Allied health staff as assigned
