About The Position

To assist in the presentation and serving of quality food to students in a quick and pleasant manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), previous experience with large scale cooking and food preparation/serving.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with lO's and lOO's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but basic written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to pass an entry-level aptitude test. Ability to work in a friendly manner with co- workers, staff, and students. Ability to perform job and communicate in a noisy environment. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to perform duties and awareness of all District requirements and School Committee policies.
  • Qualifications include ability to lift 50 lbs., experience with Daily Potential software bookkeeping, including entering Meal Production Sheet; experience in maintaining freezer inventory, stock rotation, and entering inventory data electronically; responsible for all HACCP paperwork, develop and comprehend POS reports; must possess strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment to ensure cleanliness and sanitary conditions are met.
  • Sets up and breaks down serving lines, etc. (salad bar, hot food lines, ala carte).
  • Operates cash register, ovens, heating units, etc.
  • Counts money, makes change, completes all related reports as necessary.
