About The Position

Goal: To lead student athletes in team competition by assisting the coach and coaching players in their development of individual and team skills, as well as developing them into Christian leaders themselves. Overview: ACS Athletics aims to be a highly visible platform for the display of Christian character. Our teams play to win, but more importantly, to glorify God. Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated by the Athletic Director in accordance with provisions on evaluation of professional personnel and this job description.

  • Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and agreement with school policy.

  • Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately.
  • Position requires moderate physical exertion associated with the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or climb.
  • Position requires physical capability for sustained physical work, requires strength and endurance associated with moderate physical effort.
  • Position requires moderate physical effort while performing continuous moderate lifting.
  • Lifting 50 lbs. maximum or carrying an object up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead athletes to grow in mind, spirit, and body.
  • Provide recommendations for off-season training and camp.
  • Manage the balance of developing fitness and skill with beginners.
  • Advise athletes in their pursuit of athletic goals.
  • Teach the sport's basic and advanced skills.
  • Develop and supervise regular practices in­-season, unless games prevent it.
  • Work with A.D. to develop a practice schedule before the season begins.
  • Notify A.D. of any changes to the practice schedule at least 48 hours in advance.
  • In cases of inclement weather, confer with A.D. about time change or cancellation.
  • Check the practice facility/field before and after each practice for cleanliness and order.
  • Remain at the facility/field at the end of practices until all players have left.
  • Dress professionally
  • Be present on campus for game-day early dismissals of student-athletes.
  • Coordinate team pre­-game activities/conduct and supervise pre­-game warm­-ups.
  • Coach during the game with intensity, encouragement, and professionalism.
  • Provide parents with contact information (phone and email) if necessary.
  • Assist in communicating game times, locations, and expectations to student athletes in a regular and timely manner.
  • Assist in establishing expectations with team captain(s) and players at the beginning of the season.
  • Assist in providing equipment/uniform requests to A.D. before the season as needed.
  • Meet with A.D. regularly throughout the season and at the end of the season to evaluate performance and program needs as needed.
