The Visalia Times-Delta, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking a general assignment reporter focused on producing quick-turn hyper-local stories. The ideal candidate will be a strong reporter and writer who builds audience through probing reporting and compelling storytelling. Assignments will primarily consist of quick-hit stories developed in a few hours to a few days, sourced from a mix of reporter-generated ideas, network suggestions, or general assignments. This position requires a versatile journalist capable of tackling virtually any topic, with a proven track record in quick-turn investigative and enterprise reporting. The reporter will handle on-scene reporting of major breaking news and develop storytelling enterprise and investigative angles. Other assignments may include profiles, sense-of-place features, trend stories, and occasional longer narrative pieces with emotional resonance. Attention to detail is essential.
