About The Position

The General Assembly Bilingual Vehicle Engineering Assistant Manager will serve as a technical expert during vehicle launches, coordinating and leading project activities including new equipment installation and supplier selection. The role involves preparing specification packages, controlling the overall New Model Project Budget, and supporting vehicle launches by facilitating communication between Korean technical teams and local teams. The position requires translating technical documents and hosting video conferences for design improvements. Responsibilities also include preparing Assembly Process Sheets, checking workability and quality of vehicle assembly, determining man hours, and participating in cross-functional teams. The candidate will continually review technical developments and propose new technology projects, while also preparing presentations and reports for management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Industrial Engineering discipline.
  • No reason for disqualification for overseas travel or stay.
  • 7 or more years of experience working in an engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, fabrication and/or production environment.
  • 3 or more years of experience defining, developing, implementing, or improving production processes.
  • English and Korean proficient (Business professional level).
  • Skills/Knowledge: MS Word / Excel / PowerPoint.
  • Domestic / International travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical expert of assigned area during vehicle launches.
  • Coordinate and lead project activities, including new equipment installation, supplier selection and implementation phases.
  • Prepare specification package after reviewing requirement (Quality, Safety, UPH, Layout, Ergonomics etc.) and request for Purchasing Request of new projects.
  • Control of overall New Model Project Budget.
  • Support vehicles launch and production by being the bridge of communication with the Korean technical teams and local teams.
  • Translate technical documents and meetings from Korean to English as needed.
  • Communicate with Advanced Vehicle Manufacturing Engineering Team in Korea and other relevant teams in R&D from Korea/USA for successful launch of new model.
  • Host video conference in new vehicle design improvement and status follow up meeting.
  • Responsible for preparation of the Assembly Process Sheets considering method and line condition with detailed picture and text.
  • Work content to be explained through a picture drawn in the workers’ position according to work content, work order and work status.
  • Responsible to check the workability and quality of vehicle assembly.
  • Ability to check vehicle drawing (tightening hardware and torque, vehicle dimension, etc.) and design work process as the assembly sequence.
  • Determine the Man Hour based on MODAPTS and optimize allocation.
  • Analyze and continuously improve performance of assigned area (safety, quality, production, cost, and human factors).
  • Participate in Cross Functional Teams (CFT) and other problem solving teams, as directed by Senior Management.
  • Serve as technical expert for Team Members, Team Leaders, including technical training, as required.
  • Support daily production issues as required.
  • Continually review technical developments in area of responsibility and propose new technology projects as appropriate.
  • Prepare presentations/reports on current projects, progress, and issues to management.
  • Understand and control labor allocation.
  • Plan and get approvals from HMGMA & HMC regarding of pilot build business trips.
  • Meet all other requirements as assigned.
  • Ability to perform multi-tasks with multiple priorities within a designated time frame.
