About The Position

The General Accounting Intern will have a chance to apply their understanding of accounting principles in real work experience under the supervision of our staff. This role requires a basic understanding of GAAP, great analytical skills, and ability to work as part of a team.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled university student.
• Available to work up to 20 hours per week.
• Able to work onsite in our NYC office.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Comfortability in a high-paced, collaborative environment.
• Detail oriented.
• Positive attitude, trustworthy, and receptive to feedback.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of monthly bank reconciliations
• Assist the team with reconciliations during the closing process
• Prepare and record journal entries.
• Analyze financial data and prepare reports on variances and trends
• Fixed Assets: Maintain the fixed asset register, including recording additions, disposals, and depreciation. Ensure accurate accounting for fixed assets in accordance with company policy and GAAP.
• Prepaid Expenses: Maintain schedules of prepaid expenses and ensure proper amortization.
• Shadowing members of the accounting department as they perform their duties.
• Working with NetSuite ERP
