Job Summary: The General Accounting Manager is responsible for full management of overhead spending at the Canaan, CT facility. This includes providing financial support to Finance and Operations leaders, playing a key role in establishing and achieving financial objectives and formulating and executing Operations strategies. This position will maintain accounting and reporting procedures resulting in accurate product costs and manufacturing performance reporting. Further, this position will have functional accountability to the Global Business Services organization - striving to improve and standardize finance processes company wide.

Requirements

  • Possess a track record demonstrating the management of increasing levels of responsibility, successful business partnering at a senior level, and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve controls and influence decisions through accounting knowledge and data driven financial analysis.
  • Cost Accounting, General Accounting, and Finance knowledge are all required.
  • Advanced Excel skills are vital.
  • ERP experience is vital; specifically, SAP experience is preferred.
  • Audit experience preferred.
  • Requires 3+ years of relevant professional accounting and/or finance experience, including of product costing, manufacturing variances and inventory control experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in lean manufacturing/six sigma a plus.
  • CPA/CMA/MBA a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparing, analyzing and reporting monthly and annual financials to Facility, Division and Corporate management.
  • Manage entire Capital Asset process between project managers, and local finance group.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet review and reconciliation.
  • Assist and challenge teams with compiling cost improvements, team goals, and monthly forecasts.
  • Manage both internal and external audits performed at the facility.
  • Review, challenge, monitor, and support control procedures.
  • Manage and report results of quarterly physical inventory.
  • Support the operations Staff in the overall management of the operations financials, specifically around capital, indirect spending and balance sheet management.
  • Compile month end Fixed Asset and depreciation reconciliations.
  • Document relevant information with critical financial roles of the plant.
  • Drive operational improvements, maintain and enhance processes and controls, and take ownership of new processes.
