LEARN, Southeastern Connecticut's Regional Educational Service Center, invites candidates to apply for a full-time General Accountant opening. General Scope of Responsibilities The General Accountant will perform a variety of accounting functions and fiscal reporting requirements for LEARN and LEARN member districts. The General Accountant will work in conjunction with management to develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures consistent with current best practices related to accounting operations and workflows. This position may also be responsible for accounting assignments at LEARN member districts. Relationship within the Organization The General Accountant reports to and is evaluated by the Chief Financial Officer and/or the Assistant Director. Specific Responsibilities Process accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions. Assist with the review of open purchase orders and invoices to ensure timely payment and liquidations. Maintain current vendor information on all active vendors. Prepare and distribute 1099s. Assist with weekly bank deposits to the bank and provide support for entry in MUNIS accounting system as needed. Assist in performing monthly bank reconciliations and researching open items. Ensure all accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis. Assist with school and program invoicing and collections across LEARN. Assist in the development and implementation of procedures and controls in accounting and business office functions. Assist in providing analysis, reconciliation, projections, and forecasts for all general ledger accounts in all funds (balance sheet and income/expense accounts). Assist with performing pre-audit and post audit services for all expenditures and accounting records (e.g. account analytics). Provides business office services to LEARN's member districts. Perform other duties as appropriately assigned.
