About The Position

Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for part-time affiliate faculty to teach courses in gender, women, and sexualities studies. The number of these temporary, part-time, non-tenure track academic positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the program. As such, not everyone in the applicant pool for this position will be contacted and/or selected to teach. Affiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, usually on a semester-by-semester basis. Affiliate faculty are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University’s benefit program. All such teaching assignments are dependent on budget and enrollment. Qualified candidates will be expected to teach in person/on campus upon hire.

Requirements

• Master’s in Women’s, Gender, Sexuality and/or Feminist Studies or related field.

Nice To Haves

• Doctoral candidate in women’s, gender, sexuality and/or feminist studies.
• Demonstrated record of feminist instruction, including teaching or developing women’s studies or discipline specific feminist courses and curriculum.
• An understanding of the diverse student population at our large urban commuter campus and a demonstrated commitment to inclusivity.

Responsibilities

• Teach one or more courses in gender, women, and sexualities studies.
• Prepare course materials and lesson plans.
• Grade student work and provide robust feedback in a timely manner.
• Address student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
• Provide online or in-person academic support to students as needed.
• Comply with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
• Adapt and learn new modes of instruction as required.
