About The Position

The Gender Equity Advisor for Freshwater Fisheries at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) plays a crucial role in developing and implementing the Freshwater Fisheries strategy within the Global Provide Food and Water team. This position focuses on supporting inland fisheries under Indigenous and community leadership, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. The Advisor will provide expert gender advice, manage priority projects, and collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure equitable implementation of the strategy, emphasizing the importance of women's roles in these communities.

Requirements

  • Experience in gender equity, particularly in relation to environmental or fisheries issues.
  • Strong project management skills and experience managing priority projects.
  • Ability to conduct data collection and literature reviews effectively.
  • Excellent writing skills for report preparation and documentation.
  • Experience in collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders, including NGOs and government entities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in low- and middle-income countries, particularly in the Amazon Basin or sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Familiarity with Indigenous and community-led fisheries management.
  • Knowledge of biodiversity and human well-being outcomes related to fisheries.
