This position is for a General Education Teacher responsible for developing lesson plans aligned with state learning and common core standards. The teacher will utilize computers and other provided technology to assist students, adapting and enriching the curriculum with multiple strategies and online tools to actively engage students. The role requires proficiency in information, media, and technology, with an ability to leverage emerging tools and web technologies to meet student needs. The teacher will design classroom experiences that teach not only facts but also how to apply learning to solve real-world problems, guiding students to develop 21st Century Skills. This includes providing opportunities for skill development in activities outside the classroom like student organizations, physical activities, and service learning. The teacher is expected to create engaging and empowering learning experiences for all students and be fully connected to learning data and tools for using that data, as well as content, resources, and systems to create, manage, and assess relevant learning experiences, directly supporting students both inside and outside school. The teacher must understand, accept, and abide by the Academy’s philosophy and mission, adopting a student-centric, holistic approach that teaches students how to learn. They will model tolerance, global awareness, reflective practice, and expected student behaviors. Responsibilities also include preparing instructional lesson plans, administering standardized tests, maintaining accurate student records (grade books, report cards, attendance, behavior/discipline), and ensuring confidentiality of student information. The teacher will collaborate with staff to improve student learning and achievement, deploy sound classroom management techniques, and engage in collaboration with colleagues as a 'connected educator' to develop positive working relationships with students, parents, school personnel, and the public. Attendance and participation in school activities such as staff meetings (before or after school hours), open houses, chaperoning student activities, providing student guidance, and participating in faculty committees are required. The teacher must follow all corporate and Academy policies, participate in professional development, maintain Highly Qualified Teacher status, and perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and Management Company.
