About The Position

The vision of the University of North Georgia (UNG) GenCyber AGENTs (Advancing GenCyber Education for North Georgia Teachers) is to work with and through K-12 teachers to inspire the next generation of cyber professionals in northern Georgia and to help solve the nation's shortfall of skilled cybersecurity professionals. Our goals are to increase interest in cybersecurity, increase diversity in the cyber workforce, help students and teachers understand correct and safe online behavior, and improve teaching methods and cyber content for K-12 curricula. The standards-based content will reinforce the GenCyber Cybersecurity Concepts through hands-on exercises. The UNG GenCyber AGENTs teacher education program is a year-long program where teachers can choose between an in-depth study of cybersecurity or a Computer Science Endorsement. Both options include a required in-person five-day cyber academy where 24 area K-12 teachers stay on the University of North Georgia's (UNG) Dahlonega Campus. Participants that choose the Computer Science Endorsement option will take the following online courses for Professional Learning Unit credit offered through the UNG College of Education and endorsed by the Professional Standards Commission.
