About The Position

The Gelcoater is responsible for applying Gelcoat to hull, deck molds, and small parts according to production orders. This role involves spraying Gelcoat, checking for proper millage, reading orders, and applying the correct color. Key duties include applying identifying numbers to hulls and decks, stocking Gelcoat, and maintaining equipment by cleaning filters and pumps. The position also requires preparing molds through taping, wrapping, and prepping. The Gelcoater must maintain a clean and orderly work area, follow instructions from supervisors, and collaborate effectively with a team to complete daily tasks. Additionally, the role involves inspecting all parts to ensure they meet quality standards.

Requirements

  • Be able to spray Gelcoat, check for the proper millage, read orders, and apply the corresponding color requested.
  • Be able to wear a full mask respirator.
  • Be able to identify the different hulls and decks that need to be gel-coated.
  • Be able to use small hand tools, including scissors, razors, knives, etc.
  • Give full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made and asking questions as appropriate.
  • Understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Manage one’s own time and respect the time of others.
  • Consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Must be able to work effectively individually or with a team.
  • Must be able to perform tasks under time pressure deadlines.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • Working directly with gelcoat, fiberglass, and resin.
  • Be able to drive a forklift.
  • Be able to use and maintain a variety of hand tools.
  • Knowledge of production processes and quality control.

Responsibilities

  • Be able to spray Gelcoat, check for the proper millage, read orders, and apply the corresponding color requested.
  • Be able to apply hull and deck identifying numbers in the proper place.
  • Stock Gelcoat.
  • Clean Filters and pumps at required intervals.
  • Taping, wrapping, and prepping molds to be gel coated.
  • Keep the work area clean and orderly.
  • Follow instructions of the Supervisor/foreman/lead.
  • Work with a team to complete daily tasks.
  • Must be able to wear a full mask respirator.
  • Be able to identify the different hulls and decks that need to be gel-coated.
  • Be able to use small hand tools, including scissors, razors, knives, etc.
  • Inspects all parts to be complete and up to quality standards.
  • Any other duties as assigned by management.
