About The Position

Gel Prep Operator Position Summary Work Schedule : Rotating 12-hour shift from 7 PM to 7 AM EST, operating on a two-week cycle. Week 1 includes Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; Week 2 includes Wednesday and Thursday. 100% on-site role in St. Petersburg, FL Join Catalent’s flagship softgel development and manufacturing facility in North America, located in St. Petersburg, FL, with a capacity of 18 billion capsules per year. As a Gel Prep Operator, you will contribute to the manufacturing of pharmaceutical softgels, gaining hands-on experience with multiple technologies and equipment. You’ll also collaborate with the on-site Product Development team to support new product innovations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; prior manufacturing experience in a GMP-regulated environment preferred.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 30 pounds regularly during a 12-hour shift; assistance required for lifting over 44.09 pounds.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 500 kg (approx. 1,100 pounds); annual potent compound physical exam required.
  • Must pass Ishihara Color Vision Screening and achieve 20/30 visual acuity (near and far) with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to read written documents, operate industrial machinery, and frequently use a computer monitor.
  • Must be able to access the manufacturing floor and comply with all safety and operational requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Weighs and mixes raw materials according to batch record instructions to produce gelatin for encapsulation, supporting the shop floor schedule.
  • Processes master batches and color conversions per SOP and batch record guidelines.
  • Prepares, blends, and mixes batches under supervision by operating blending equipment and completing batch paperwork in compliance with SOPs and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Accurately completes documentation related to the gelatin process and updates SOPs for the assigned department as needed.
  • Cleans, inspects, and sanitizes gelatin receivers and equipment, maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures, including handling of non-hazardous, hazardous, and DEA waste.
  • Immediately notifies supervision of any deviations from batch records, SOPs, or potential production issues.
  • Participates in cross-training to perform tasks, operate equipment, and maintain documentation across other production departments as needed.
  • May be assigned to work in different areas outside of the primary business unit depending on shift staffing levels and workload.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
