About The Position

The Bridgeport Public Schools is seeking a GED Spanish Math Instructor for the 2025 - 2026 school year. This position involves teaching evenings for 12 hours a week at a rate of $45 per hour for a duration of 36 weeks. The instructor will be responsible for planning and delivering instruction in Spanish Language Arts that aligns with GED standards, developing lesson plans that incorporate reading, writing, grammar, and test-taking strategies, and using a variety of instructional methods to accommodate different learning styles and literacy levels.

Requirements

• Fluency in Spanish and proficiency in English.
• Strong knowledge of GED content standards, especially in Language Arts.
• Experience working with diverse, multilingual adult learners.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver instruction in Spanish Language Arts aligned with GED standards.
• Develop lesson plans that incorporate reading, writing, grammar, and test-taking strategies.
• Use a variety of instructional methods to accommodate different learning styles and literacy levels.
• Administer diagnostic assessments to determine student skill levels.
• Track student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual learning goals.
• Prepare students for the GED Reasoning Through Language Arts (RLA) exam in Spanish.
• Foster a respectful, inclusive, and motivating learning environment.
• Encourage student participation, persistence, and confidence.
• Integrate culturally relevant materials and real-world applications.
• Work closely with student support staff to address barriers to learning.
• Participate in professional development and team meetings.
• Maintain accurate attendance and academic records.
