About The Position

Design, develop, and validate components and systems related to gearbox, driveline, and transmission products Collaborate closely with cross-functional Propulsion System and Vehicle Engineering teams, including: Controls Thermal Management Engine Engineering E-Motor Engineering Ensure product robustness in the following areas: Functional performance Manufacturability Assembly process Efficiency Driveability Contribute to the continuous improvement of driveline and transmission systems throughout the product lifecycle Apply engineering principles and industry standards to meet quality, cost, and timing targets

Requirements

  • B.S. Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Degree
  • 8-12 years of engineering experience in gearbox design
  • including gear specification, shaft layouts, bearing selection, spline rating, housing design, seal selection, actuation methods, lubrication methods, and more related to gearbox design
  • An understanding of transmission & driveline operation and the interaction between gears, clutches, and electrohydraulic components
  • Proficient in at least one major CAD package (NX, CATIA, CREO, SOLIDWORKS)
  • Understanding of the manufacturing processes used for the variety of components within a gearbox or transmission
  • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills as well as experience with basic PC software (e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project)
  • Candidate must be highly motivated, self-directed, have the ability to manage multiple complex projects, and have a positive attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in multiple major CAD packages (NX, CATIA, CREO, SOLIDWORKS)
  • Experience with gearbox design and rating packages (KISSsoft, MASTA, ROMAX, etc)
  • Experience with CAE tools relating to static strength and durability analysis
  • Experience with controls, efficiency, and/or thermal management is desired
  • Experience with transmission & driveline testing procedures, in vehicle or on dynamometer, and other related considerations
