Penn Machine Company, a Marmon Group/Berkshire Hathaway Company, is seeking a passionate and experienced Gear Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing team in Johnstown, PA (relocation support available for candidates located outside our local area). Over 100 years of industry leadership in Oil & Gas, Transit, Railroad, Mining, and General Industry A collaborative, innovative environment where expertise shapes our products and processes Commitment to employee development, continuous improvement, and Lean initiatives Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, paid time off, and 401k with company match Your Impact: Be our subject matter expert in gears Design, develop, and optimize gear manufacturing processes (machining, hobbing, grinding, heat treat) Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure quality and performance Select tools, materials, and machines for gear production Design fixtures and special tooling to support manufacturing Lead and support continuous improvement and Lean initiatives to support gear manufacturing Collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations teams to resolve challenges Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for gear-related issues Stay current with industry trends, gear standards (AGMA, ISO), and emerging technologies What We’re Looking For: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related engineering field 3+ years’ experience in gear manufacturing or related fields Experience with gear design preferred. Heat treat and metallurgy experience are pluses. Solid understanding of gear types (spur, helical, bevel, etc.) and gear cutting methods Familiarity with CNC machines, CAD/CAM, and gear design software Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills Lean manufacturing experience; Black Belt certification a plus Ready to Grow?
