About The Position

The Gear Cutting Machinist will be responsible for cutting gears from various gear cutting equipment. Set up and operate a variety of hobbing machines, shapers, thread milling machines and bevel gear generator, according to setup sheets and/or blueprints to cut gear teeth on gear blanks.

Requirements

• Familiarity with cutting spur, sprocket, helical, bevel, worm, internal & external gears
• Ability to use precision measuring equipment tools to take accurate measurements
• Proficiency in math and analytical abilities including Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English
• Three or more years of documented gear cutting experience required
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

• Operate manual gear hob machines, shapers, thread mills, and bevel gear generators with minimal supervision
• Set up and operate various gear cutting equipment according to setup sheets and blueprints
• Cut gear teeth on gear blanks using precision measuring equipment
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and setup sheets
• Follow all company and common-sense safety policies while using required personal protective equipment
• Contribute to a team environment by anticipating the needs of co-workers and maintaining a positive attitude
