About The Position

Grand Canyon University is seeking a GCU Fitness Center Assistant to support the mission of Grand Canyon University through GCU’s Campus Rec. Department Purpose within the Organization: The purpose of this position is to assist the GCU Fitness Center team in providing excellent customer service, supervising the safety of all participants within the facilities, daily cleaning task are required, while also providing information related to fitness and wellness at either Antelope, Chaparral, Juniper, Papago or Verde River fitness center locations. This position reports to the management of the GCU Fitness Centers. Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment: Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program. Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student. Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University. You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements. Shifts are between 3-6 hours. This position is semester to semester. Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Requirements

  • Willingness to provide professional customer service.
  • Have a current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
  • Maintain GCU’s standard for an acceptable GPA.
  • Strong organizational interpersonal skills.
  • Mature, dependable, friendly and punctual.
  • Willingness to work, learn and be flexible.
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Desk attendants are responsible for checking identification as well as guide students in scanning into the Fusion/MyRec software system.
  • Complying and implementing COVID-19 policies and protocols GCU has set forth, if applicable at the time.
  • Ensuring everyone utilizing the fitness centers have signed in if the Fusion/MyRec software system is down.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the reception desk, machines, mats, mirrors, spin room (Juniper) and the sanctuary (Papago).
  • Answer incoming phone calls in a professional manner.
  • Provide students/visitors information regarding student fitness center and or campus rec. activities.
  • Work organized events throughout the school year when necessary.
  • Provide emergency care/response if necessary, upon public safety’s arrival.
