The GCP Infrastructure Engineer within the InfoSec SWAT team is responsible for operating, securing, and optimizing Google Cloud Platform environments to support global resiliency and incident response capabilities. This role delivers hands-on engineering, implements automation, ensures compliance, and contributes to modernization initiatives aligned with the RISE platform. Working closely with senior engineers, architects, and SWAT leadership, this position plays an important part in maintaining secure, stable, and scalable cloud infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 8+ years functional experience including a minimum of 5+ years position specific experience in infrastructure, cloud operations, or systems engineering roles.
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform services (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, IAM, VPC, GKE, etc.).
  • Experience supporting incident response, disaster recovery processes, and secure operational practices in cloud environments.
  • Good understanding of cloud networking, availability zones/regions, and storage resiliency.
  • Practical experience with Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD, or similar automation tooling.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes/GKE operations and container orchestration.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-team collaboration abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred certifications: Google Associate Cloud Engineer Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer Google Professional Cloud Architect (a plus)
  • Additional training/certifications in Business Continuity or Disaster Recovery are helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Support incident response efforts by ensuring GCP infrastructure is secure, resilient, and ready for rapid action.
  • Apply threat intelligence updates, security controls, and hardening requirements into GCP operational workflows.
  • Execute established disaster recovery and failover procedures to minimize downtime and data loss during incidents.
  • Build and maintain automation using Terraform, Ansible, or GCP-native tools to streamline provisioning, configuration, and deployments.
  • Assist with Kubernetes/GKE infrastructure operations to ensure workload reliability and consistency.
  • Monitor and optimize compute, network, and storage utilization for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Enforce cloud governance, security baselines, and compliance requirements across GCP environments following InfoSec policies.
  • Maintain clear, audit-ready documentation for operational tasks, processes, and configuration changes.
  • Support continuous compliance checks and remediation activities.
  • Collaborate with InfoSec, Managed Services, cloud architects, and application teams to enable seamless integration of GCP services into enterprise systems.
  • Participate in modernization and resiliency initiatives under the RISE program by executing tasks aligned to global strategy.
  • Provide operational support for cross-functional teams consuming GCP services.
  • Perform daily operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of GCP infrastructure.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and support continuous improvement of cloud reliability.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of runbooks, SOPs, and operational standards.
