About The Position

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is hiring a GC Service Engineer based at our Columbia, MD headquarters. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Gas Chromatography instruments. You will support internal teams and external customers by ensuring Shimadzu GC systems operate reliably and meet performance standards across a range of laboratory applications.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or related technical field required
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience servicing GC instruments (Shimadzu preferred)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and software components
  • Ability to interpret chromatograms and support application-level performance
  • Exceptional communication, documentation, and customer service skills
  • Proficiency with technical reporting and service documentation software

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Shimadzu GC instrumentation
  • Provide technical training to end-users and junior service personnel
  • Perform chromatogram analysis and verify system performance accuracy
  • Document repairs, recommend product improvements, and maintain service logs
  • Develop preventive maintenance procedures and recommend parts inventory levels
  • Support the Corporate Service Center for in-house GC repairs as needed
