About The Position

The Lead Facilities / Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing and performing maintenance activities within a warehouse/distribution facility to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations. This role provides day-to-day leadership for maintenance activities, coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance, supports compliance and safety initiatives, and serves as the primary technical resource for facility systems and equipment.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of facility maintenance systems, tools, and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and building systems.
  • Maintenance planning, scheduling, and work-order management experience.
  • Strong leadership, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, technicians, and warehouse staff.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals (preferred).
  • Basic math and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in CMMS systems and maintenance documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform daily facility and maintenance operations for a warehouse/distribution center.
  • Coordinate, assign, and prioritize work orders, balancing emergency repairs with preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs on facility systems including HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, roofing, dock equipment, fans, generators, and building infrastructure.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance programs are followed and documented for all facility systems.
  • Communicate maintenance issues, project status, and repair timelines to the Facilities Manager and leadership team.
  • Monitor facility conditions and proactively identify safety, maintenance, and operational risks.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, company safety policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices; address unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately.
  • Manage maintenance inventory including parts, supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment documentation using CMMS.
  • Support vendor coordination and oversight into contracted maintenance and repair services.
  • Assist with facility improvement projects and capital repairs as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
