About The Position

The Assistant Production Manager at Rose Acre Farms is responsible for assisting the Production Manager in a wide variety of tasks. All duties are to be performed in an exemplary and professional manner.

Requirements

• High school education preferred but not required; previous experience in layer house operations, farming, or general agricultural experience preferred.
• Ability to work with live animals and monitor their health and well-being.
• Basic management skills to make quick and rational decisions regarding personnel and equipment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to motivate house employees.
• Basic knowledge of electricity and its function in layer houses.
• Capability to learn maintenance on various equipment such as egg and feed conveying systems.
• Willingness to fill in for absent employees.
• Ability to treat all employees and external contacts with respect and courtesy.
• Familiarity with the Rose Acre Employee Handbook policies and ensure compliance.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under stress.

Responsibilities

• Manage the quartile at the farm, ensuring that production and feed goals are followed, and report progress weekly.
• Report feed inventories, call in production and daily temperature readings, and set future production goals for the houses supervised.
• Work with house managers and employees to ensure smooth operations within the houses.
• Fill in for employees who miss work, quit, or take vacations.
• Ensure that pests are kept to a minimum in the houses and that traps and pest bait are set out weekly and maintained.
• Manage employees in their quartile, schedule them, and enforce Rose Acre policy guidelines.
• Collaborate with production managers to ensure goals are met.
• Work with the Rose Acre Feed Efficiency Specialist to ensure correct feed ratios and ingredients are utilized.
• Report any problems in the quartile that are beyond normal duties to the Production Manager immediately.
• Complete all necessary paperwork and ensure it is distributed and sent to the correct areas.
