About The Position

Under general supervision, calibrate, test, set up, and repair various controls, instruments, and gauges measuring all types of variables (these may include dimensional, magnetism, NDT, mechanical properties, metallurgical, or weight). Maintain computerized system of gauge inventory, and location. May disassemble instruments and examine various components for problems. Repair gauges or send for repair. Work on Gauge Plans with Quality Engineers. Perform MSA Studies on gauges.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to use computers and fluency in Microsoft Suite is essential, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet or exceed the company's attendance standards.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions given.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of gauging.
  • Understand MSA (Measurement System Analysis).
  • Understand Gauge R and R (gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility).
  • Mechanical ability and aptitude.
  • Read measuring instruments utilizing the metric and English standard system.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and Blueprint reading skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with or Knowledge of Q-DAS or Minitab is a plus.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Needs little supervision.
  • Works independently.
  • Works well with others, inter- and intra-departmentally.
  • Training others on how gauges work and proper use of gauges.
  • All types of gaging methodology and familiarity (hand gauges, auto-gauges, comparators, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Clean, repair, and set up gauges for shop floor (micrometers, vernier, dial indicators, digital indicators).
  • Calibrate company and employee gauges, inspection equipment.
  • Maintain computerized system of gauge inventory, and location.
  • Setup, calibrate, and maintain gauges.
  • Ensure gauges are working properly.
  • Repair gauges that are not working properly.
  • Provide necessary gauges for changeovers.
  • Replace parts and monitor calibration systems.
  • Respond to emergency calls from production.
  • New gauge ordering and replacement.
  • Invoice and send out gauges to 3rd party labs as necessary for on-time calibration services.
  • Responsible for maintaining all Gauge data for auditing purposes.
  • Responsible for Training on how to use the gauges on the shop floor or personal gauges.
  • Responsible for All MSA studies of all gauges or new installations of process equipment such as Bollhoff guns, green and red rabbits, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
