About The Position

We are seeking a Gateway Project Software Engineer to support a high-priority application development initiative for a federal research environment. This role is part of a cross-functional Agile scrum team responsible for delivering a modern business application that integrates with multiple enterprise personnel systems. This is a hands-on engineering role-ideal for a mid-to-senior level .NET developer who thrives in clean code, strong collaboration, and structured Agile delivery.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship (required – no exceptions)
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 6+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong experience with: C# and .NET (8 or higher) ASP.NET MVC and Razor Microsoft SQL Server (2019+) RESTful API development
• Experience working on Agile development teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with Jira for Agile task tracking
• Experience with Entity Framework Core or Dapper
• Exposure to Azure cloud services (App Services, Functions, Storage, AKS)
• Experience with Docker or containerized deployments
• Test-driven development (TDD) experience

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain applications using C# and .NET 8+
• Build front-end components using ASP.NET MVC, Razor views, and Bootstrap
• Develop and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, stored procedures, and queries
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and integrate with external systems
• Write and maintain unit tests and automated integration/regression tests
• Collaborate closely with product owners, QA, and fellow engineers in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
