About The Position

As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the GN&C Aerosciences & Flight Mechanics section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract. Someone in this role would typically have a bachelor's degree in engineering and five (5) years of experience. This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire. International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering and five (5) or more years of related work experience.
  • Experience with Kalman filters.
  • Experience with development of modeling spacecraft systems performance.
  • Experience with development and analysis of 6 DOF algorithms and simulations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment consisting of NASA civil servants and various contractor employees.

Nice To Haves

  • A Ph.D in Aeronautics and Astronautics or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited engineering school.
  • Experience with Neural Networks, UDU factorization and advanced smoothers.
  • Experience developing, verifying, and validating simulation models.
  • Experience with safety critical human rated flight system requirements.
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and/or Machine Learning.
  • Experience with safety-critical, human-rated embedded software development.
  • Object oriented software development.
  • Agile software development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and evaluate safety-critical, human rated GN&C flight software.
  • Develop, integrate, and test new GN&C algorithms.
  • Develop, integrate, and test new algorithms for evaluation of vehicle and mission performance.
  • Develop, integrate, and test new algorithms for trajectory optimizations.
  • Provide recommendations for improvements in design and software development processes.
  • Perform other duties as required.
