About The Position

Gate Clerk controls access to intermodal facilities and provides clerical support by performing inspections of intermodal containers. Night Shift Schedule. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Performs inspections on all inbound and outbound intermodal units using an automated computerized gate system and/or handheld device. Climb up and down a rolling stepladder to change paper rolls on Kiosks. Use of a headset with a microphone to communicate with drivers. Use Windows programs for details on transactions and corrections to transactions. Notes the conditions of trailers, chassis or containers after inspection Control access onto facilities. Maintains assigned equipment & ensures work area is clean and orderly. Performs work in accordance with established safety & quality management procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year's related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A valid Driver’s License
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Company will train.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
