About The Position

This full-time position is responsible for the professional and secure operation of the facility's entrance gates. The Gate Attendant serves as the primary point of contact for all incoming and outgoing traffic, including truck drivers, vendors, customers, and team members. This role requires constant communication, meticulous record-keeping, and the enforcement of company policies to ensure the safety and efficiency of facility operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 6 months of work experience in the last year.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate under stressful situations.
  • This position requires strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access, and Outlook, as well as the ability to type accurately.
  • Applications will be considered from the following counties: Washington, Benton, and Madison.
  • If you were previously employed at Tyson, there’s a 180-day waiting period before you can reapply.
  • You can apply if you’ve worked at Tyson no more than two times.
  • Failed Drug Screen - if you had a failed drug screen, you must wait 6 months before reapplying.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and document all truck and trailer traffic entering and exiting the facility.
  • Ensure all team members present a valid ID/badge upon entry.
  • Inspect backpacks for compliance with company policy, requiring checks for all non-clear bags.
  • Enforce proper footwear requirements for all personnel entering the facility.
  • Operate a golf cart to perform trailer lot checks during designated hours.
  • Monitor and enforce company policy regarding items brought into and out of the facility.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all inbound and outbound calls, transferring calls and making necessary outbound calls to waiting drivers.
  • Maintain constant communication with plant management, truck drivers, vendors, and team members as needed.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including Production, Maintenance, Wastewater, Shipping, and Receiving, to facilitate inbound shipments.
  • Utilize various communication tools, including radios, Microsoft Teams, email, and phone.
  • Perform constant data entry and maintain accurate records of all trucks and trailers on the lot using Microsoft Excel.
  • Conduct daily checks on all trailers, documenting set temperature, current temperature, and fuel levels multiple times per shift.
  • Utilize a tablet to document and photograph inbound trailers and any reported damage.
  • Document and report any onsite damages to trailers promptly.
  • Process outbound paperwork and ensure all details match the Bill of Lading.
  • Effectively report shipping and receiving discrepancies or issues to ensure they are corrected in a timely manner.
  • File away documents to maintain organized records.
  • Assist in training new gate attendants.
  • Be flexible with shift changes and be available for other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
