Under RN supervision, serves as an integral member of the Surgical Services care team by providing assigned patient care and/or support services as delegated and permitted by law and regulatory bodies and institutional policies and procedures. This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service appropriate to the age of the patients served in their area. Why Holland Hospital? Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or higher level of completed education required
  • Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider Certification completed by 60 days after hire required

Responsibilities

  • Promotes patient safety by maintain the standards of the nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and nursing department
  • Demonstrates knowledge of normal GI anatomy, pathology and common diagnoses within the GI Endoscopy service
  • Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique and/or clean surgical/procedural technique
  • Achieves unit specific initial and ongoing competencies
  • Assists with the identification of actual and potential risks to patient safety
  • Reports patient safety issues utilizing the occurrence reporting system
  • Able to describe the unit based quality improvement activities and implications for practice
  • Accurately completes assigned procedures in a thorough and timely manner under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Demonstrates proper use of and share knowledge with other staff regarding equipment, techniques, and procedures
  • Demonstrates proper positioning techniques and ability to assist throughout procedures
  • Assists in proper specimen collection
  • Troubleshoots and maintains equipment
  • Expedites procedure by anticipating the needs of the physician, selecting appropriate equipment/supplies
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of emergency equipment
  • Supports the operation of the unit by completing assigned tasks such as inventory, stocking and cleaning of assigned areas
  • Assists with regulatory checks on unit as delegated
  • Demonstrates proper techniques and methods of handling and processing scopes and other equipment through high-level disinfectants and sterilization processes
  • Demonstrates knowledge of infection prevention techniques to promote a culture of safety
