About The Position

PS&S is seeking an experienced Gas Utility Project Manager / Engineer to join our Warren, NJ office; however, the candidate could possibly work from our Wall or Cherry Hill offices. This position is ideal for a technically strong utility professional who can lead projects through all phases of design and delivery while managing schedules, budgets, and client expectations. In this role, you will oversee multi-disciplinary project teams, provide technical leadership and QA/QC oversight, and ensure successful execution of gas utility infrastructure projects that support safe, reliable service for our clients and communities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in gas utility engineering and/or design
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including planning, tracking, coordination, and delivery
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD required
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office; MS Project experience is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Willingness to travel to project sites (20%–40%) and occasionally work outside traditional hours when needed
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate with internal leadership and external stakeholders including clients and agencies, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Lead gas utility projects from kickoff through completion, ensuring delivery on schedule, within scope, and within budget
  • Oversee day-to-day project execution while ensuring compliance with client standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior designers, engineers, and support staff
  • Coordinate and perform QA/QC reviews of engineering deliverables
  • Prepare and present project status updates, including identification of risks and mitigation strategies
  • Review, interpret, and troubleshoot design plans for linear utility infrastructure projects
  • Assist with preparing and submitting federal, state, county, and municipal permit applications
