About The Position

Shell Renewable Asset Management International (SRAMI) plays a key role – accountable for the asset management, including operations and technical support of a 2+ gigawatt global portfolio of onshore solar, wind, battery storage, and gas fired generation assets located in The Netherlands, Oman, Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, and United States, with expectations to grow the managed flexible generation portfolio. This role reports to the Global Engineering Manager and sits within the central, multidisciplinary engineering team. It has been established in response to global investments and acquisitions in gas-fired generating (GFG) assets. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in the operation, maintenance, and reliability of gas turbines and high-speed rotating equipment across the GFG asset portfolio. Additionally, the role will support onshore wind turbine assets, leveraging rotating equipment knowledge to enhance asset performance. Due to the industry's reliance on third-party Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contractors, proven experience in contractor and contract management is essential. The role requires frequent travel with flexibility depending on the operational requirements. Collaboration will be key, with close working relationships across Asset Management, Operations, and Trading teams, as well as support from internal functions and external service providers.

Requirements

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis
  • You must have a bachelor’s degree level, with Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in operation and maintenance of rotating equipment
  • Minimum of 5 years of contractor management experience in an operational environment. Experience as a Contract Holder is preferred
  • Experience in O&M of diverse OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) gas turbine fleet with associated plant auxiliary systems.

  • Responsible for completing assurance on Performance Standards and overall compliance
  • Ensure that the correct levels of discipline competencies are maintained by O&M provider
  • Support technical due diligence and provide lessons learned during acquisition or design/construction of new gas-fired generation assets.
  • Support onboarding and integration activities of future gas-fired generation assets
  • Lead high value contract negotiations with service providers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM)
  • Act as Contract Holder for specific contracts
  • Provide technical SME input to relevant contracting strategies

Responsibilities

  • Perform site walkthroughs by showing visible felt HSSE Leadership and mentoring to site personnel
  • Participate in Safety Meetings, safety initiatives, and taking personal responsibility regarding the Life Saving Rules
  • Maintain thorough understanding of relevant rules, regulations and standards to keep field personnel safe and manage asset integrity
  • Establish and assure relevant Process Safety controls across fleet of gas fired generating assets
  • Develop, implement and refine through-life asset maintenance strategies for rotating equipment across the gas fired generating assets
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support to the global & regional site operations & maintenance teams on issues related to the gas turbines, steam turbines, compressors and other balance of plant (BoP) rotating equipment
  • Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA’s) and working alongside the OEM’s implement effective corrective and preventative action plans.
  • Working with the site O&M providers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) ensure maintenance turnarounds are delivered to schedule, budget and quality, whilst achieving the expected levels of HSSE performance
  • Working with Asset Management, Operations Management, OEM’s and O&M providers lead the MTO Standard application across the gas fired generation portfolio, utilizing the MTO process to create cost-effective actions plans to achieve target availability and reliability
  • Proactively identify and resolve equipment reliability problems that impact overall asset performance
  • Provide technical support and assurance oversight, to ensure that the operational assets comply with all local regulatory requirements specific to the location/region. Establishing and monitoring Leading Indicators for performance and compliance
  • Lead the Management of Change (MoC) process and design changes according to Shell Group practices and procedures
  • Day-to-day technical support and guidance to site operations teams as dictated by maintenance, operational interruptions, and troubleshooting needs
  • Integrate across engineering disciplines, functional teams and stakeholders to achieve business objectives

Benefits

  • The salary range for this position is $124, 000 - $186, 000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
