Utility Inspection Technician: Responsible for checking gas meters for leaks and corrosion. This includes visual inspection and ensuring all required paperwork / data are completed. Meter Inspection Technicians will be required to report to their respective work area on time at the start of each shift. While on-site, the technician will be responsible for identifying any abnormal operating conditions along with accurately filling out all forms associated with the inspection visit (form may be electronic or paper). We are currently hiring throughout the Fort Wayne area. The starting pay is $18.00/hr. An additional $5/hr., after training, will be provided to those who choose to use a personal vehicle over a company vehicle ($18/hr. +$5/hr.). Must have a reliable vehicle to use for work purposes if this payment option is desired. These are daytime, full-time positions and overtime may be required. Instructor led training will be provided. This position may require you to work weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Check gas meters for leaks and corrosion.
  • Conduct visual inspections and complete all required paperwork/data.
  • Report to the respective work area on time at the start of each shift.
  • Identify any abnormal operating conditions during inspections.
  • Accurately fill out all forms associated with the inspection visit.

Requirements

  • Proficient at using current technology; smartphone, tablet.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in one-on-one settings and while addressing a group.
  • Ability to work long hours and weekends.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions; outdoor experience preferred.
  • Must be available to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Must pass a drug screen.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record required.
  • Work well within a group, as well as individually.
  • Ability to use simple hand tools.
  • Ability to read utility maps.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle.
