About The Position

Performs intermediate-skilled work in the construction and maintenance of the installation and relocation of gas service lines, meters, regulators, and related devices; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. Limited supervision may be exercised by subordinate gas personnel.

Requirements

General knowledge of the safe methods and practices used when working with gas lines, meters, regulators, and related devices; general knowledge of the equipment and materials used in gas work; general knowledge of the hazards of the work and of necessary safety precautions; skill in the use of specialized tools and equipment used in gas pipefitting.
A High School Diploma or G.E.D is required.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in pipefitting and in gas distribution or general construction work is required.
A valid driver’s License with a clear driving record is required. If a candidate does not have a valid Tennessee driver's license, they must acquire one within 30 days of hire.
Must qualify within the approved City of Lebanon Operator Qualification Program, subject to the current requirement of said program.

Responsibilities

Installing and relocating gas lines, domestic and commercial meters and regulators
Restores and discontinues gas services
Lights and inspects gas appliances.
Locates, tests, and repairs gas leaks
Meets with customers, advises on gas meter and regulator installation
Locates underground utilities for construction and/or repair.
Re-lines disturbed lines, reads gas meters, changes faulty meters
Stocks utility vehicles with equipment, materials, meters, regulators, etc., as required
May be required to work overtime and/or be on-call and be able to respond to emergencies within a reasonable time
Program and install electronic radio transmitter (ERT) during gas meter installation
Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting for ERT and AMI problems as related to gas meter billing issues.
Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this role.
Performs other work as assigned.
