Overview: Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Gas Business Unit is actively hiring a Gas Plant Operator to join the team. This position is located at the Younger Extraction Plant in Taylor, BC, and will report to the Operations Foreman in the Gas Business Unit, part of Pembina’s Operations Division. As a Gas Plant Operator, you will be responsible for daily operations of the Deep Cut Extraction Plant and storage/loading facilities. The Gas Services Business Unit provides gas and liquids processing fee-for-service solutions for customers in strategic locations across the Western Canadian Sedimentary and Williston Basins. We are the largest third-party gas processor serving the WCSB at 6.2 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) and 128,000bbl/d of condensate stabilization. Liquids processed and extracted from the facilities are transported by Pembina's Conventional Pipelines business unit with a portion of the volumes being further processed at Pembina's Redwater facilities. Positioning of GBU at the front of the value chain allows Pembina to offer full integration from well head to market.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 or more years’ experience in gas plant operations.
  • Post-secondary education in the oil & gas industry is an asset;
  • Fourth Class Power Engineer;
  • Gas processing Operations certificate is considered an asset;
  • Equipment experience would include gas compression, refrigeration, and at a minimum shallow cut (De-Ethanizer). Deep cut experience would be considered an asset;
  • Familiar with all aspects of the operations and established procedures;
  • Continual dedication to on-going training and development;
  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills;
  • Strong mechanical background;
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain a flexible attitude to accommodate the variable duties of the position;
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new tools, technologies, or processes and apply them effectively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites.
  • You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.
  • The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Taylor, BC.
  • The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position.
  • The final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities

  • Start up, operate and shut down unit operations within the gas plant as well as the entire plant with expertise;
  • Review, understand and fully utilize Pembina’s safety and operational procedures and standards in performing all facets of work;
  • Ensure all safety documentation is completed for all personnel working in the facilities under operational care. This will include Safe Work Permits and Field Level Task Assessments;
  • Clearly document facilities operation in log book reporting, daily production reports and reliability reporting;
  • Lead and participate in commissioning and startup activities;
  • Work with Pembina management, engineering firms and equipment vendors to develop a comprehensive set of procedures that will enable safe and reliable plant operation;
  • Identify and troubleshoot process upsets, take proportional action to resolve issues;
  • Call out for emergency operations or maintenance preparation;
  • Look for cost savings opportunities and relay them to the team during operations meetings;
  • Incident reporting;
  • Keeping your safety tickets up to date and coordinating required training;
  • Demonstrate learning agility by actively seeking feedback, adapting to new information quickly, and applying learnings to improve performance and deliver results in a dynamic environment;
  • Work with a safety conscious attitude; and
