About The Position

The Gas Operations Tech II position at Peoples Gas System involves performing maintenance, repair, and calibration tasks on equipment at various facilities, including gate stations and power plants. The technician is responsible for ensuring safety compliance, overseeing CNG projects, and maintaining equipment to ensure proper functioning. This role requires a high level of independent judgment and initiative, as well as effective communication with team members and external partners.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Florida CDL 'A' License with a safe driving record.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Gas Operations Technician I or 5 years of related work experience with utility companies.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Mechanical inclination and computer literacy, with the ability to interpret diagrams and schematics.
  • Familiarity with municipal, state, and federal regulations applicable to natural gas CNG-AC systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in a related technical field is preferred.
  • ASE relevant certification with certification in Alternate Fuels; NGVi CNG Fueling Station Design, Operation and Maintenance Training Certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repair, and calibration tasks on CNG equipment at Company facilities.
  • Oversee CNG projects including construction and commissioning at approved connection points.
  • Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair CNG and gate station equipment.
  • Safely operate Measurement and Regulation (M&R) CNG equipment and manage preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Establish and maintain inventory of CNG replacement materials and track material usage and costs.
  • Perform on-site emergency response maintenance and troubleshoot equipment failures.
  • Coordinate and oversee CNG construction and commissioning activities at M&R sites.
  • Complete required calibration, inspection, and documentation using company procedures.
  • Work with personnel, contractors, and vendors in the installation of gas distribution systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local electrical codes.
