About The Position

Under limited supervision, the Special Meter Maintenance Technician is responsible for assuring that all Gas Meter installation, maintenance, inspection and repair work done they perform is in accordance with Company, State and Federal regulations as described in the Eversource Gas Operating and Maintenance procedures. Maintenance Technician In-tests, cleans, adjusts, repairs, tests, paints, etc., gas metering used to record the volume of gas consumed; disassemble and assemble meters and regulators using wrenches, screwdrivers, soldering irons and other tools and equipment as required; repairs and/or replaces defective or worn parts; execute all forms and reports as required and perform other similar or related duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Possess mechanical skills and ability as shown through successful completion of a Mechanical Comprehension Test.
• Pass a pre-employment/pre-placement drug test in accordance with DOT regulations.
• Pass DOT physical.
• Possess and retain an unrestricted Mass. Vehicle Operators License.
• Ability to operate a forklift or willingness to train and qualify for it.
• Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position including the ability to lift up to 75lbs.
• Regular attendance and a good safety record.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in meter reading, utility operations, or installing and maintaining gas meters.
• Strong knowledge of different types of gas meters, meter systems, and installation/maintenance procedures.
• Ability to independently problem solve.

Responsibilities

• Assure all Gas Meter installation, maintenance, inspection and repair work is in accordance with regulations.
• In-test, clean, adjust, repair, test, and paint gas metering equipment.
• Disassemble and assemble meters and regulators using various tools.
• Repair and/or replace defective or worn parts.
• Execute all forms and reports as required.
• Perform other similar or related duties.
