The Service Technician inspects, diagnoses, and repairs gas and diesel powered vehicles, forklifts and trailers. Main duties include running diagnostic tests on vehicles, replacing the vehicles’ engine, transmission, steering mechanism and all braking components. Test driving the vehicles to determine if they are properly repaired will be required. Field repair work will at times be required and assisting other locations with mechanical issues. Work Quality Diagnoses, rebuilds and repairs all company vehicles and equipment. Performs repairs on vehicles and equipment and performs inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Technician must have a keen attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills. and be comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools. Possess knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment. Work Schedules Completes all assigned tasks and their daily work schedule. Displays reliable attendance and schedules time-off with advance notice. Preparing work plans after fully scoping out the issues. Customer Service Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times; exhibits good customer relations skills. Promotes the business with existing and potential customers. Keeps the Manager informed of operational, customer, vendors, or employee issues that may arise. Consulting the customer and reading work orders to evaluate the tasks required. Technician must have good interpersonal skills Inventory Inventory Responsible for the inventory and upkeep of company tools. Maintaining and ordering any filters prior to any full services performed. Safety & Organization Assists in keeping all inside and outside work areas extremely neat and orderly. Tools and parts should be kept in designated areas while not in use. Continuously follows the company employee policies safety guidelines and safety programs established by Key Cooperative. Wears appropriate PPE. Makes sure all vehicles and equipment pass DOT inspections when other repair work is complete. Must exercise the LOTO program pertaining to kinetic and static energy such as hydraulic, pneumatic, and gravitational energy. Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or GED; or a minimum of 4 to 6 years or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Understanding of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance. Experience in diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs. Basic Computer skills needed to input work orders. Be willing to learn how to use scan tools and interpret ECM codes. Have advanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system and the mechanisms of a diesel engine.
