About The Position

This full working-level Control Center position will independently follow established methods, Control Room Management Plan (CRM) and procedures to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the U.S. Pipeline systems. This position, which reports to the Manager of Gas Control, continues to gain experience in USNG Commercial Operations Gas Control through on-the-job learning while occasionally receiving direction from senior and lead gas controllers. Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma—Three years of natural gas industry experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.
  • Must have a working-level knowledge of gas hydraulics and compressors
  • Must obtain D.O.T. Operator Qualification certification through the successful completion of the Company's testing and evaluation program within the prescribed timeframe
  • Must be able to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • This position requires occasional travel and the ability to operate out of either of our backup locations in Houston and Bryan, TX.
  • Must be conscientious, attentive, and able to work well with others in a team environment
  • Must possess effective communication skills and the ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations
  • Must possess strong mathematical, analytical and computer skills
  • Must be proficient in most Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Provide a driver’s abstract for review
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing

Responsibilities

  • Will ensure the safe and efficient operations of compressor stations, meter stations and pipeline systems at all times through the execution of daily operating plans
  • Will identify, analyze, and take appropriate action to mitigate abnormal operating conditions at compressor stations, meter stations and pipeline systems
  • Will monitor and respond to alarms as per established protocol
  • Will process customer nominations and imbalances in a non-discriminatory manner
  • Will follow Document Standard for documenting all relevant operational information during the shift and Responsibility Transfer Procedure to communicate all operationally significant information during shift change
  • Will assist in the troubleshooting of various operating tools used in the Control Center
