This role is responsible for the engineering and execution of compressor revamp scopes, including centrifugal and reciprocating compressors—across all phases of the project lifecycle, from scope definition and design through fabrication, installation, and commissioning. The candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of rotating equipment, piping systems, and industry codes to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant project execution.

  • Lead and coordinate compressor revamp and retrofit projects from scope development to commissioning.
  • Review and evaluate existing compressor system designs to define required modifications, including mechanical re-rates and component upgrades.
  • Collaborate with designers to develop and review P&IDs, PFDs, and layout drawings related to revamp scopes.
  • Specify equipment modifications or replacements based on process requirements, performance analysis, and OEM recommendations.
  • Perform mechanical design and calculations in accordance with applicable codes (e.g., API, ASME Section VIII, B31.3).
  • Coordinate with OEMs, third-party vendors, and internal departments to spec and source components, manage technical clarifications, and ensure alignment with revamp objectives.
  • Review and approve vendor documents, datasheets, drawings, and fabrication packages.
  • Support site teams during field verification, decommissioning, installation, and startup phases.
  • Participate in and contribute to project design reviews, HAZOPs, and safety studies.
  • Ensure compliance with client specifications, project documentation requirements, and quality control procedures.
  • Maintain accurate technical records, revision control, and timely documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Report on project milestones, risks, and progress to engineering and project management teams.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in natural gas compression or rotating equipment projects, including 2+ years focused on revamp or retrofit scopes.
  • In-depth knowledge of reciprocating and/or centrifugal compressors, including design, operation, and performance evaluation.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards: ASME B31.3 (Process Piping), ASME Section VIII (Pressure Vessels), NFPA 70 / NEC (electrical interfaces where applicable)
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD platforms (AutoCAD, CadWorx, SolidWorks) and engineering analysis tools (e.g., Compress, DesignCalcs).
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, especially in brownfield environments.
  • Ability to interpret and develop P&IDs, general arrangements, fabrication isometrics, and control philosophies.
  • Experience supporting fabrication and field teams, with a focus on constructability and operational safety.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities to balance multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Results-driven with a commitment to engineering excellence and safety.
  • Strong understanding of gas process systems, skid packages, and modular assemblies.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or EIT certification is a plus
  • Experience working in environments involving power generation, midstream gas processing, or offshore oil and gas is a plus.
  • Familiarity with document control systems and quality management processes.
