About The Position
Middleton Place National Historic Landmark- Middleton Place is America’s Oldest Landscaped Gardens and home to a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Located along the Ashley River in Charleston, Middleton Place is a National Historic Landmark, Historic Home, Research Center, and Historic Plantation and Stableyards. Position Summary-Gardener The horticulture team at this National Historic Landmark is responsible for general garden maintenance. The people who work in this department have a passion for plants and landscaping with hands-on experience in garden maintenance.
Requirements
- 1-year experience working in the horticulture field
- Previous experience working safely with all types of landscaping and gardening equipment
- Effective work habits including time management, teamwork, and a proactive mindset
- Knowledge of plant species, soil types, pest control
- Good communication skills and customer-focused attitude
Nice To Haves
- Formal horticulture training or certification is a plus
Responsibilities
- Garden Maintenance-perform tasks including mowing, planting, weeding, watering, fertilizing, mulching and pruning to ensure gardens are healthy and well-maintained
- Plant Care
- Equipment Maintenance-maintain equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition, operate machinery safely and efficiently
- Other related duties as assigned
