About The Position

The Gardener sees to the creation of floral arrangements and bouquets while supporting the cultivation, care, and enhancement of Los Poblanos’ signature landscapes—including the Greely Garden, decorative garden areas, and other planted spaces across the property. With a focus on roses, flowers, and ornamental horticulture, the Gardener contributes directly to the visual and sensory experience for guests while supporting product development, event aesthetics, and culinary needs. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, punctuality, and a deep respect for sustainable land stewardship.

Requirements

  • Experience with floral design.
  • Ability to install, monitor, and repair automated drip irrigation systems.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and horticultural equipment.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of plant care, soil health, and organic practices.
  • Ability to take direction, work independently, and collaborate with a team.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and follow work plans.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to lead by example.
  • Professional demeanor and guest-focused attitude.
  • Physically able to work outdoors in varying conditions, including standing, walking on uneven terrain, bending, and ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Represent Los Poblanos with professionalism and hospitality while engaging with guests, the local community, and team members.
  • Create fresh flower arrangements and seasonal bouquets for guest rooms, retail, events, and public spaces.
  • Fabricate ornamental accents utilizing plant material from the property.
  • Support daily horticultural tasks including planting, pruning, fertilizing, pest and disease control, and harvesting—particularly of roses and other flowers.
  • Maintain decorative potted plants throughout the property.
  • Enhance garden biodiversity and guest experience through care of bird feeders and pollinator areas.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks such as trellising, deadheading, and grooming of garden beds and plantings.
  • Decorate and refresh spaces throughout the property for seasonal or special occasions.
  • Coordinate and deliver floral materials to designated locations.
  • Maintain and repair drip irrigation systems and other agricultural infrastructure with a focus on the Greely Garden.
  • Keep gardens, fields, and equipment areas clean, organized, and visually appealing.
  • Collaborate with interns, volunteers, and groundskeeping staff to complete daily or seasonal tasks.
  • Provide support to other areas of the landscape and farm.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Garden & Landscape Manager.
  • Create and install floral and seasonal displays across the property.
  • Implement and maintain horticultural and agricultural systems.
  • Monitor plant health and soil quality; apply sustainable care practices.
  • Operate and maintain irrigation systems and garden equipment.
  • Build and maintain agricultural structures and support systems.
  • Perform manual outdoor work including lifting, bending, digging, and pruning.
  • Trim trees, maintain decorative plants, and remove invasive species.
  • Clean and organize garden spaces and work areas.
  • Track materials and assist with inventory management.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding progress and challenges.
