About The Position

Join the team at J.W. Jung Seed Company , an industry leader in mail-order and retail gardening. With six garden centers across Wisconsin, Jung Seed Company ships thousands of quality seeds, plants, and gardening accessories to all 50 states. The Garden Center Production Specialist is responsible for supporting daily operations of the store. Including but not limited to assisting customers, growing and caring for plants, and performing a variety of seasonal tasks in a fast-paced, indoor and outdoor environment. In addition, this role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of greenhouse production during the growing season.

Requirements

Strong customer service and communication skills
Attention to detail and organizational abilities
Ability to identify and solve problems effectively
Ability to adapt as needed
Knowledge of annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, soils, insecticides, and plant disease management
Willingness to learn and expand plant and product knowledge
Valid Wisconsin Pesticide Applicator license or ability to obtain within specified timeframe (required)
Willingness to obtain forklift certification
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Availability to work evenings, and weekends, as needed

Responsibilities

Deliver excellent customer service throughout all stages of the shopping experience
Assist customers in locating products and selecting items that meet their needs
Care for plants, including watering, pruning, and general upkeep
Plan and manage seasonal plant production
Monitor and maintain inventory levels
Recruit, hire, and train seasonal production staff
Assist with organizing daily work tasks and schedules
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Oversee pest management and spraying programs
Perform landscaping and facilities maintenance
Maintain greenhouse
Other duties as assigned
