About The Position

GARAGE DIESAL MECHANIC The Garage Diesel Mechanic shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following: Servicing and repairing diesel tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units. Will be doing a full line of service work on the above-mentioned equipment. Troubleshoot problems as reported. Conduct state approved inspections of equipment. Overhaul diesel engines. Test drive tractor-trailer units and trucks to ensure repair work is correct. Follow blueprint, wiring diagrams, and service manuals. Complete written work reports. Adhere to all safety programs and laws. Willing to be trained in various mechanical skills and subject manners. Requirements

  • Basic mechanical knowledge
  • Welding and soldering skills
  • Electrical- basic skills trouble shooting electrical problems and reading wiring diagrams
  • Diesel Repair- basic working knowledge and/or experience of diesel engine repair and overhaul
  • Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions
  • Coachable and willing to learn
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Must be able to work in both very hot (more than 100 degrees) and very cold (20 degrees below zero) and in a very wet and humid environment for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to bend, crawl, climb, squat, and work on items both above the head and at ground level during repair and maintenance operations
  • Must keep work area safe and clean and work in a safe and efficient manner
  • Minimum Age: 21, as per Federal D.O.T. regulations
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License is a plus

Nice To Haves

  • C.F.C Refrigeration Type II Certification
  • Diesel Refrigeration repair experience
  • Ability to arc weld and solder
