About The Position

The position involves operating various types of cranes, including gantry, overhead, locomotive, and tower cranes, primarily in a shipbuilding environment. The role requires familiarity with lifting tools and techniques for heavy lifts, ensuring safe and efficient movement of heavy items. The candidate will be part of a team contributing to the construction of advanced naval ships for the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.

Requirements

• Three (3) or more years of experience operating portal (gantry) cranes in the marine, construction, or industrial industry.
• Experience in using universal hand signals for crane operation.
• Ability to interpret heavy lift load charts.

Responsibilities

• Operate various types of cranes including gantry, overhead, locomotive, and tower cranes.
• Utilize lifting tools such as heads, chains, and nylon rope slings.
• Perform heavy lifts and manage the blocking and movement of heavy items.
• Interpret heavy lift load charts and use universal hand signals.
