About The Position

Grand Canyon University is a private Christian university located in Phoenix, Arizona. The College of Arts and Media offers exciting opportunities for adjunct faculty to teach part-time, face-to-face instruction at our Phoenix campus. GCU Traditional Campus located in Phoenix, AZ: Courses are in-person and on-campus for the Fall 2026 semester (Class start date 09/08/2026) Course: Game Creation 1 Game Creation 1 is an introductory course that provides students with a foundation in the key principles and skills necessary for game development. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on projects, students learn the basics of game design, programming, and art creation. They explore topics such as game mechanics, level design, character development, and prototyping. By the end of the course, students will have created their own small game, gaining valuable experience in the game creation process. Technology requirement: Students are responsible for providing their own laptop that is capable of running the Adobe Creative Cloud.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in game art, Game or Graphic Design, Film, Illustration, or other creative field, scriptwriting or a business degree with industry experience. OR bachelor’s degree in game development or other related STEAM field.
  • Minimum of 3 years working in the game design industry, broad skills in software used in the game industries including the Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Experience as a game producer, assistant producer, product manager, or other project management of creative teams is key.
  • Required: Portfolio or case studies of game production projects worked on by the candidate.
  • Knowledge of the game theory, mechanics, player motivation and the game marketplace; the game production pipeline, game creative direction, ability to manage a creative team.
